I used the wrong fuel...now what?!?!?!
To make a long story extremely short. I put 3/4 of a tank of 87 octane fuel in my car with 93 octane already in the car. When I realized the mistake was made, I added STP octane booster. So far I have burned off close to half of a tank, but both me and my fiancee notice a difference in how the car idles and how it runs. I've been trying to eat the fuel up and was doing spirited driving all yesterday afternoon. Once I use all of this garbage gas, what should be my next step. Less than a month ago I used BG 44k, should I use it again with a full tank or just wait for my next couple of oil changes.
I will never make this mistake ever again. Thanks for the help people.

I suggest either using Techron fuel system cleaner or Lucas fuel system cleaner. I used the Techron in the past and it was pretty good. However, I recently used Lucas for two fill-ups in a row and the car runs and idles so much smoother and I swear I get another 1-2 more MPG; it only costs about $4.50!

You'll be fine. The car was designed to run on 87 octane if you ever put it in. You'll notice a bit less power and maybe not as smooth idle with 87, but it's not the end of the world. Just fill in 93 octane to a full tank right now and you should be within the 91 octane minimal rating.

You will be fine. The car should be able to adjust. Like Gsteg said, there will be a slight difference in power and idle sound, but there should not be any adverse affects, just fill it with the good stuff next time.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I just topped her off with 93 octane from the half way mark and I've been driving her a lot easier. I'll reset the ECU after refillling the tank the next time.

lol man you're taking it a bit too seriously. No need to reset the ecu, unless you just have a habit of doing it. The engine and ecu were designed to run on lower octane gas without problems but with a loss of power. It even says in the manual, if no 91+ octane(recommended) can be found an 87 or better substitue is ok. Just drive off the rest of this mixed tank and fill up with premium the next tank and you'll be ready for heavy right foot fun!

How did you make out with the intake? I drove the hell out of my car yesterday trying to burn that fuel off 90-115 mph up and down 95.
Thanks Jeff
I guess you can say that I really want to pamper my GS. When I realized I put the wrong gas in the car, my finacee could tell you herself how mad I was at myself. But, yeah, I know that I'm going overboard with this, but this car does that to me.
Can't wait to get on the throttle again like I want...... Thanks again guys.
