Default FI GS question...

Something that I have always wanted to know. If a stock Lexus GS4XX produces roughly 245/250 RWHP and can run the 1/4 in 14.2 what can the same car do (but only FI) if it now produces roughly 375 RWHP? Mid 12's? High 12's? low 13's? I just would like to know what an FI GS is capable of. Sure I have seen dyno videos, charts, read up on whp/tq numbers even seen a couple of videos of an FI GS solo driving but NEVER seen a video of one racing another car on the street. So what's the deal? What can it do? Can it in fact mess with a new M3/M5, CTS-V without having to go over 375 RWHP?

i wish i could give you some race videos. my car isn't anywhere near race ready in my opinion yet so i haven't done much. -_-* good question though, i don't think a boosted GS can take a new M5 though.

No problem. GTE swap or built GE motor with an efficient turbo setup and set boost to around 20psi or so then it should be able to pull away from the M5 with ease Run some race fuel and crank the boost up to 25psi and things will get even more interesting

Still though, this is a stock vs modded debate so its just apples and oranges.

375whp in a GS4 should do ~12.7-ish. Around there.

Interesting....veeeerrrryyy interesting. So making about 130 WHP will drop the car about 1.5 seconds in the 1/4; not bad at all. Are their any FI kits out there (supercharger or turbo) that can yield this kind of WHP on around 6 - 8psi of boost? I really would like to go FI but keep it at conservative levels. I want to go a route that doesn't involve an engine swap and does not require frequent maintanence as the local tuning shops here suck and I really don't want to drive 50+ miles further west everytime I need maintanence/tuning done. Is there such a kit? I'm thinking of supercharger right off the bat but not sure if they can produce power like this.

Most guys with the RMM kit are making about that much with the 8psi pulley.

Yeah Nick.. I would suggest the supercharger then.

Our very own Dave is pushing 380 rwhp @ 8lbs...

Oh, I can't believe that I forgot about Dave!..yeah, that's some nice power he's making out of that RMM kit. Why the heck did they discontinue it? Just because of the stupid ill-fitting bracket? Any machine shop can pretty much custom fit the bracket if that was in fact their problem. Does anyone know of or has heard of a potential release of a supercharger for the GS4XX anytime soon?

I'd say they discontinued it because of the demand...or rather the lack of. Take for example, how many people boost a 350Z compared to a GS. It's just business I guess.

If JPI can pull it off, I'll be seriously considering. I wanted to get the RMM kit, but I've 'heard' the kit design (and instructions) weren't that great.

And hopefully it's not another $5500 just to get another 100hp.....

At this point if $5500 consisted of all (including engine mgmt.) I would be all over that! especially for another 100+ horses.

when i had a s/c'd gs400 with the 2.87 pulley, my dynos ranged from 370 to as high as 400 (first dyno run on a cold morning)...anyway, the best time i ever got in the 1/4 was 13.2 at 104...this was at a track in carlsbad, ca (very close to sea level) on nitto extreme drag radials with a 1.9 60'
