Default SRT Stage II

http://www.swiftracing.com/turbochar...s300/index.htm

Im moving back from college for little while and got a sweet job. My uncle is leaving for Iraq pretty soon for some security company, hes a cop right now, and is giving me his house until he comes back and even paying ALL the bills too!

Ive read a lot about swaps and NA-T and all about Jeff's setup and open loop and widebands etc etc. I want to do it myself but to be honest, I probably require a kit of some sort with very good directions. I can follow directions perfectly without immediately understanding 100% what Im doing. Once it gets up and running I know I can be safe with it after receiving the training on reading/reacting to the guages.

Could I expect reliability and almost no problems or at least problems that I could manage with this thing? I really like how the turbo is nice and out of the way and it doesn't sit way up high(I love my engine cover). I figured I would start at the Stage II because it has an intercoolor. Also, if you look at the extras, I guess I need the $695 T304 3" catback turbo exhaust or is there a better one? Im guessing stock wont do. Also, if I got the $695 turbo catback, I wouldnt need the $300 downpipe because it would already be included in the $695 package right? Even with this kit I still have to notch the frame for the intercooler piping right?

If NOT, Im just going to drive this thing to JPI in Texas from here in AL, throw him the keys and a bunch of money and tell him to call me when its certified by him to be a DD. Which hopefully doesnt include a GTE swap.

JPI, how is your kit coming along? Will it be somewhat idiot proof?

Keep in mind, that SRT kit is waaaay changed up now. Don't look in the GS section...all the info there is like 2 years out of date if not more lol. Check the IS section to see what you will be getting with a kit ordered today. They use the newer style tubular manifold like the one I have. The turbo sits just a tad higher, but the engine cover still fits on. As for using their kit, they've pretty much perfected the bolt-on turbo kit. Their newest revision even comes with a Haltech F10X standalone fuel ECU. In terms of driveability and ease, their kit "should" be one of the best kits to get in my opinion.

We don't have any shippable kit. Everthing is in house fab. I would be happy to put together a kit for you. The stage 2 kit you can probably get away with the EMS but It's suggested. AEM EMS is what we are going to use from now on. The 1050 box will do the trick. Here are some quick snap from the Is300 with the JPI 2.5 stage.

On 18 psi pump gas and tuned very rich. Stock timing the OCV is untouched. We had to take it off the dyno a couple runs before the weak W58 tranny blow up.

Also remember that the kit Jpi is showing is with a headgasket install. I'm not knocking either kit, just remember that to make that power (400whp+) you are going to need to install a thicker headgasket to lower compression. A head gasket isn't too expensive, the labor involved with installing it is $$$. The Srt kit you list above is using the stock headgasket, you are looking at a very old setup though, you should get ahold of the current kit as Jeff mentioned, alot different and much better performance.

This kit, Im guessing, REQUIRES the tranny upgrade in addition to the VB upgrade and tranny cooler. Do I need a turbo timer and a boost controller? I really didnt want to get into a tranny upgrade for $3k basically. I might as well get the V160 for $5k right?

i believe that SRT does not make any kits for the GS crowd anymore...but you can get the 2.5 kit and have them modify the one pipe that runs from the TB to behind the head light...also with this kit you will need a VB upgrade! and installation of the headgasket is a must!
