Smile I tried Mobil 1 Sythetic for the 430 today...(long time Castrol User)

I'll check back in with results but the car is idling a lot smoother. I'm a Castrol dude but I was watching the AMS racing today (Porsche kicking all sorts of booty) and saw the Mobil one on the cars and decided to give it a shot.

One of the few times I remember actually buying something b/c I saw it on TV...

4 quarts was on sale for $17, from $23..a good deal...jacked the car up and changed the filter and we'll see results...

FYI Walmart has them for $24(normal price) for the 5quart jugs. I think they had a sale this week and it was $19 or so. I always used Mobil1 in the past, I just switched over to Amsoil to see what all the fuss was about. So far I haven't noticed much of any difference at all between this and the Mobil1. Well, other than the price difference lol. I'll see how my results are in another 4-5k miles

Just a question, once you switch to syn from mineral oil (assuming you switched from mineral) don't leaks pop up? At any rate, thats a darn good price for 5 quarts of synthetic. Keep us posted on results.

HTQCummins, thats mostly a myth. Unless your car has some really really high mileage and all the seals and gaskets are shot or on the verge of leaking. Normal dino oil tends to be thicker than their synthetic weight equivalents. So in the case of old/bad seals...the car might start leaking out the synthetic stuff. My friend has a few cars with 120k-150k miles and just started to use synthetic in them and no problems so far. I'm sure a few members here are running synthetic with high mileage motors as well.

Mike, changing from Castrol to Mobil 1 is nothing to be amazed at. They are both modified dino oil these days. I was lucky enough to stock up on nearly 60 quarts two years ago when mobil had a sale to liquidate all of their "Real" Synthetic oil before changing to the modified dino oil. So I'm good to go for another few years before needing to purchase more oil.
