^^I have no trouble believing l1tech's story at all. Acceleration isn't all about hp, its about getting hp to the ground, and gearing has a HUGE role in this.

Not trying to nit-pick, but I don't think HP to the ground is really it either. I think it is more about torque to the ground, which is why HP combined with good gearing is so important.

Ok so let's look at the manufacturer specs. Lexus lists the IS250rwd with a 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds. A v6 Camry or a v6 Altima features 0-60 times at 6.7 & 6.46 seconds respectively. Gearing always plays an important role however in this comparison I call BS.

So you are the kind of person that believes everything you read, as for myself I rather experience it first hand. I am not trying to prove anything here, all I can tell you is what the outcome was between 2 friends having a little fun out on the road without breaking too many laws.

No, I'm not a type of person that believes everything they read. If I was, I wouldn't have questioned your claim that your 250 keeps up with v6 camrys and altimas.

There's just such a HUGE difference in getting from 0-60 in 7.9 seconds versus 6.46, I find it hard to believe your story.

Like i said, don't believe everything you read. Clocked with a radar gun( I've got cop friends) my 250 will do 0-60 anywhere from 6.9 to 7.3 seconds, granted it is not blazing fast( I didn't buy this car for speed) But until you actaully get the car out and run it you don't know what it is gonna do. Lexus.com lists the 350 at doing the 1/4 mile in 14.2 but nobody calls BS when everybody posts times a full second faster, why is it so hard to believe the the 250 beats posted times also? I bet you tell everybody that your 350 will do the 1/4 in 13. something as opposed to the 14.2....cmon everybody knows you do. Funny how some MFGS underestimate performance ratings and just about all of them overestimate these figures hoping that the customers will never actually find out.

Look, I can see we're not going anywhere with this so I'll end it by saying 250s can get low seven second 0-60 times with the manual tranny as evidenced by car and driver, however that's still quite a bit off from the car in question, the 3.5 v6 Altima. I'm still skeptical but hey, if you did it with or without some kind of factory freak, props to you.

Oh, and I actually don't tell anyone what the 350 supposedly runs in the quarter since it's my wife's car and I hardly drive it. I don't talk much about the 350 since I don't really care for it. Had I been shopping for myself, I probably would have picked up a E46 M3, 335 or an S4. Currently, I've got my sights set on the new 135 due to hit US shores in March next year.

Do you compete? Autocross, drag race, road race? If you have, props to you, but typically if you've been to the track and been beaten by cars you expect to beat because the magazines say you will, then you'd understand where we're coming from. Real world and magazine world are two different places.

As always, the most important feature of the whole car is the nut behind the wheel.

I just bought a GTech Pro RR just for ****s and giggles to see what kind of G's the Z06 will pull on the race tires. It looks like I might have to slap it in the 250 for a while and answer some questions for you all.

One comment though... why the hell are we comparing to V6 Camrys and Altimas? Hell, the new Camry SE and V6 Altimas are actually in the realm of 'quick' cars straight-line. A IS250 is a pretty slow car. But that's not what its all about. I am 110% sure I can hustle my 250 through a curvy canyon road faster than a Camry/Altima, my 250 is much nicer in every respect, and the 250 gets compliments... when I've driven my parents' '05 Camry I practically get laughed at. If I want to go really fast, I'll get in the Z06.

IS handles superbly, especially on freeway loops, and winding roads.

Consistent 7.3 0-60s, I didn't do an 1/4 miles runs though since I didn't feel like finding a safe testing ground.

PS- The Z06 pulled 1.39G's on a slick surface AutoX today.

I suspect that the 1.39G "measurement" was peak, not mean. I don't think any R compound would achieve 1.39 G sustained grip in a Vette.

I haven't downloaded the full log to see sustained yet. You are correct that was peak. This particular course didn't have any turns that will lead to high sustained G-loads though, so I don't expect too much on that front.

Keep in mind this car did .98 sustained on 265 front, 295 rear sub-par street tires stock. The suspension is not stock anymore (though I plan to take it another step "further" soon ) and it runs on 315/30-18 front, 335/30-18 rear Hoosier A6s.
