Default Whats better, upgrade GS3 to Turbo or buy a GS4?

I need more power on a GS300 so im debating on whether its cheaper and easier to do a Turbo setup whether its the TT or some other to reach 300Hp plus or just sell the car and buy the same year or newer V8. I have no knowledge of the turbo upgrade but i know many have done it and love it. From what I understand, the I6 engine can be upgraded, tuned and configured to far surpass the V8 engines.

I'd say that just about 9 of 10 times your going to be putting more money into turbo'ing a GS300 than just selling an buying a GS400.

However a turbo'd GS300 is going to have far more power potential than a stock GS400. If you have the money, knowledge, and mechanical resources of going turbo on the GS300 then I would say go for it. Some would argue that it will be less reliable to go that route, but that is a different conversation all in itself.

If your just looking for some basic power over the underpowered GS300 then I would say just step up to the GS400 and you would be satisified. If you want something that is going to have lots of power potential and you enjoy playing around with different setups then turbo might just be your route, be careful because turbo is addicting

Turbo man! It's the way to go How much boost is Veritek running? Looks like everyone is using MAP-ECU's lol.

But, for a reality check. If you are not mechanically inclined at all or don't have the funds to pay a shop for upgrades and more frequent maintenance then you're much better off just trading up to a V8 GS.

so in everyones opinion its cheaper to sell the GS300, take the hit there, then buy a GS430 (i hate buying used cars, never know what problems youre inhereting, lucky me got the GS300 from a family member who was the only owner) and pay whatever for it. Plus taxes and all that and ill still be ahead? Im not a mechanic nor do i want to be one but i do DYI things like plugs, filters and other basic stuff. I dont want to have a car with the hood open constantly.

The turbo 300's can be beasts, well so can the turbo 400's....but for everyday driveability I'd go with the 400/430. I love having torque off the line. With headers/intake/tune/gears/lsd/TqConv/catback I promise you'll LOVE the 8 cylinder!!!

Turboing cars can prove to be Very Expensive, especially if done right.

What about turbo'ing a GS4! Power everywhere

I'm waiting for JPI to release a supercharger setup for the GS4. I'd love to have a GS3/turbo, but I want more low end power!

Well I've owned a gs400 and I now have a turbo'd out GS300 now. As stated earlier by jeff if your not mechanically inclined and you are reluctant to have money on the side for upgrades or just in case go with a GS400/430. If anything let's hope JP comes out with the supercharger kit and then you will have additional options with the 4.

I loved my GS4 but I love my GS3 more. Just the sound of the turbo does it for me everytime.

Where are you in NY? I'm in NYC, you can always come by, check out my set up and I can answer any additional questions you may have.

what kind of power do you want to reach and how much money are willing to spend?
the market for the 300 has a lot of support, but if you don't or can't spend that kind of money, then you are back to square one.
a gs300 with a simple turbo set up, made 261hp and 257tq which is close to a stock 400. however, that's just the start, the 300 can make tons of more power. it is all up to the wallet
on the oder hand a gs400 with a simple exhaust and safc mod made 260hp and 283tq, but the diffrence is if you want to make grater power on the 400 it is more expensive to do. although, the market is starting to look brighter for the gs400 owners like my self the market for the 300 is light years ahead
