Default Question as to why reset the computer???

My car was crashed last week and it's in the body shop. Putting in the K&N air filter and the JOEZ air intake pipe. After this is done do I have to have the computer reset before I drive it? From what I've read everyone says yes. My question is why do you need to reset it? No big deal because my whole fuse box needs replaced so I'm assuming the ECU will be reset when the change fuse boxes right?

Thanks in advance for answering those 2 questions for me.

No need to do anything. If they replace your fusebox, they will have disconnected the ECM and it will be starting from factory defaults.

The only reason I know of for resetting the ECU is to get rid of any bad "memories" it might have regarding recent operation. For example, if you get a tank of bad gas that causes detonation, the ECU will retard timing for much longer than needed.
