You might want to check out lexus-parts.com for the HKS exhaust. The site is run by Sewell Lexus in Dallas. Historically they have been the cheapest. You get a 10% discount as a CL member if you use the promotion code CL911M. I ordered mine there and since I was in Dallas I had it installed there as well.
The dealer charged me $130 to install it. I had quotes from other shops as well that were in the $150 range

installation for an exhaust shouldnt be more than $100 max. I paid $100 for my megan exhaust to be installed and $75 for my HKS to be installed. IMO $130+ is just way too much to pay for installation. Installing an exhaust is super easy n takes no more than maybe 20 min max

installation for an exhaust shouldnt be more than $100 max. I paid $100 for my megan exhaust to be installed and $75 for my HKS to be installed. IMO $130+ is just way too much to pay for installation. Installing an exhaust is super easy n takes no more than maybe 20 min max

What do you guys think? DIY Tanabe exhaust install or let the dealer do it. Dealer here in SoCal wants two hours labor, or about $200 for the install.
From what I've seen at the Tanabe site, it looks relatively simple. Perhaps the hardest and most important is to make certain the connections points are precisely lined up so there's no exhaust restrictions.
I have all the garage tools to do the install so being more lazy or not wanting to get my fingernails dirty anymore (like I did when younger), I'm trying to decide to install myself or pay the dealer what I think is a pretty hefty price.
Any thoughts from you that have installed this exhause yourselves? Dealer or DIY?

The axle back exhaust on the IS is very easy to do. I don't have ramps and since I don't want to jack up the car, I called a local shop who is a Lexus specialists. They said it should only take 15-20 minutes and would charge me only $50. Granted, I'm in South Florida, but I'm sure there are shops who specialize in Lexus in the other major cities and would charge about the same.

After I saw how it was done to my car I was in shock of how easy it was....All you need is 2 ramps for your rear tires, soap to lossen the exhaust from the hangers and some tools. It shoudl take you 30 mins to do max.
