Default Turbo Build Diary: Vol. 2, 2JZ-GTE VVT-i Conversion

Ok, so I'm not satisfied with what the stock tranny and motor can handle. Approx 350-400rwhp. It's time for me to upgrade My target horsepower goal is gonna be a conservative 550-600rwhp. I got a monstrous sized fuel system so if I ever have the itch to put down more power in the future, I'm covered....heh.

This build will be spread over a period of about 1 month. I hope to complete it before the Dallas area Lexus meet on October 14th.

On order is a race built transmission, a GE block built with brand new GTE internals, a 1000hp capable fuel system, and a few other goodies. I'll update this post with many pix just like in my first turbo build post.

Some pix below of the condition of the GTE head when I recieved it. Not too good lol. It was sludged up pretty bad on the inside. I dropped everything off at a engine builders shop to get everything acid bathed and cleaned. The head is also recieving a full port n polish, a 5 angle valve job, and getting all the seals replaced. Initially I was going to go all out hardcore with new titanium retainers, dual valvesprings, and 1mm oversized stainless racing valves. Due to the excessively high cost of all those parts, I decided to hold off for now since my power goal isn't high enough to warrant those upgrades just yet. Perhaps in the future when I need to push more power and rev to 8k+RPM

Before Cleaning

After Cleaning
And yes, I just "happen" to have an extra HKS SSQV blow off valve laying around in my house lol.

ElitistK, yes I'm going with the GTE head. My engine bay will look identical to the Aristo V300 when I'm done

bighitbike, yes I aim to please. Keeping you guys on the edge of your seats lol.

Coco-bun, I actually did the cleaning myself. The owner at the shop let me use the chemical pressure washer and sandblaster to clean everything out with extreme detail. I'm really picky about making everything look extremely clean. I spent a good 3-4hours on the cleaning machine to get everything to come out looking like it was brand new from the factory. I tell you though, those chemicals are really really strong...I was high like a mo'fo after the 3 hours of cleaning lol.

Jeff, why the GTE head? From my understanding, VVTi heads flow a lot better then non-VVTi head. Just curious.

Jeff, do you ever take a break from modding ....LMAO.

Looking forward to seeing your updates on this project.

Oh by the way I want to thank you for the DIY on the overhead console with CCFL's. I just did that mod this past weekend.
