GS Stock Tranny Slippage
I've been reading many threads where instances of the GS's stock tranny slipping, especially with FI or Nitrous. And I agree the stock tranny is pretty weak. I have a GS400 with a TC and an SRT/HFI and chip; the added power and TC just put too much load on the stock tranny and it started slipping. The check engine light kept on coming on and when we coded it, it was due to transmission slippage. I've been looking at FI or Nitrous and knew the stock tranny would need some beefing up. I contacted IPT Performance transmission in NJ for a performance rebuild. I shipped my tranny from California to New Jersey and after a couple of weeks they shipped it back. IPT reconfigured the valve body, installed Raybestos Blue Plates with a 6-friction disk clutch pack, redesigned the lube system, etc. Bottom line is this transmission is so much stronger with instantaneous shifting and much greater acceleration. The car pulls much harder and feels like it has more power basically because the tranny isn't slipping anymore. It cost me about $3400 including shipping but it's well worth it given the weak stock tranny and especially if you're boosting the motor. Now the check engine light stays off. www/importperformancetrans.com

I a race built tranny from TurboEast including the transmission, the full race build, and shipping included all for $2000. Yes, that includes a transmission and I don't have to send my stock one back to them
Supposedly it's supposed to hold about 550-600rwhp or so. I hope it stands up to their claims because I'm about to push it to those limits soon.

ProCharger makes CARB legal centrifugal superchargers; friends of mine are running them here in CA. Unfortunately I haven't seen a kit for the GS400 even though their website features a couple of SC 430's.

Hey GSteg:
I have a shop looking into a CARB certified California legal kit from Procharger for the GS400. I'll let you know what we come up with or may have to go with a tuner kit and fabricate a bracket. They've been pretty successful using the CARB Certified P-1SC Procharger SC on numerous applications. If it doesn't fly, have you looked into Nitrous?

I'm not a nitrous person honestly. I just want more power all around, especially at the low revs. I can only have fun with nitrous for a short burst until I'm back at stock level
If you can get a kit CARB legal, then you'll have some buyers. California guys are itching to get our hands on some power mods!

Most companies do not want to get an Executive Number in CA because it costs money. That's why the legal kits for Civics, Mustangs, Corvettes, NSX's are really expensive.

CARB Legal SC
Impo Performance has a Vortech Supercharger kit for the GS400 that runs about $6,000.00. They say it is 50 state legal and CARB Certified. I haven't checked it out other than e-mail contact with Impo. They have a website http://www.impoperformance.net
