Default GS300 B-Pipe

GS300 owners, and owners who have changed their exhaust.

I am looking at the B-pipe or the mid pipe between the exhaust manifold and the x-pipe. Is there a cat at the end of the b-pipe or is it a muffler/resonator? (see picture below 17410)

I can see that there are 2 cats right after the exhaust manifold.

Is 17410, the end canister, a cat or a muffler? I took a look at my own exhaust, but I cant tell without taking rest of the exhaust off.

Thanks

I think that's the 3rd cat. I remember seeing a big mesh like material inside that area when I took mine off.

Did it looks like a honey comb?

The only reason I'm asking is because of emissions. CA has the craziest emissions laws. I do not think I want to change it out if it is a cat.

Seize, what brand is that? Is that Carson or Megan Racing? Was the exhaust sound significantly different?

-thanks

It's the one by Carson.

It did change the exhaust tone, not really much during idle but when you got on it, the exhaust tone was definitely more pronounced. Take into account this was when it was still coupled with oem exhaust set-up. With an aftermarket set-up I'm pretty sure it'll enhance the sound even more.

Yes, I believe it's the 3rd cat. These cars have a 3 way cat so I assume that's the third. I'll go double check and look at the end of it later to confirm it's a cat.

Thanks for the response. I saw a video of your brothers car with the JP exhaust on youtube. The exhaust tone is extremly pronounced!

Thank you taking time to check for me. I just found out that there are a few permanent IR emissions testers that have been installed on freeway on-ramps here in Orange County. I was considering replacing the pipe back when I need to get the vehicle smogged but now I am not so sure.
