GS300 Turbo
Does anyone sell a complete kit for my 99 gs300? Any mods I should do b4 installing a Turbo? I am thinking a complete exhause, but not sure what else. A twin turbo would be nice too :P My main issue would be staying smog legal in the great state of CA

in all honesty, your probably better off swapping in the 2jzgte motor. Do the research!

or look up all posts by JeffTsai, he has a shopping list on one of his threads for a 400bhp kit. He is also on http://www.projectgs.com/

micdizo - I thought I'd chime in since I've already gone down the same thought process you're heading in and I've even picked up a turbo kit. From my research it really depends on what kind of budget you have, what your performance goals are, and if you can figure out a way to get your car emissions passed.
I'm personally going back and forth between a) putting a turbo on my car (cheap and already bought one), b) swapping the engine (more expensive), c) saying "screw the hp, get a new ride" and just buying a new GS or IS-F since it will have all the luxury items (a lot more expensive). Right at this moment, I'm leaning towards "C". I have the same smog concerns as you which is why I'm thinking about just getting a faster/nicer Lexus.
After driving a car that had the 2jzgte swapped motor, if I were to keep my car I would choose to do the swap and find a way to get it passed emissions my performance goal would be 350-400 to the wheels and that is readily achievable with a swapped motor. You may want to do the same but keep in mind though, going with a motor swap can be costly and some setups on CL here have run easily to the 10k range in parts/labor. Costs aside, this will produce the fastest car out of the 3 options above (maybe not faster than the IS-F but then you're talking single big turbo stuff, high psi, etc...). When I drove the swapped GS, the car lunged when upshifting through the gears and the steering wheel practically flew out of my hands each time. It's a VERY fast car man and anyone not experienced with driving that fast of a car should be really careful.
Regarding the idea of putting a turbo on the car... I purchased the same turbo kit that lexmada has and it's been sitting in the garage for several months. It has pretty much everything I need to make it work but I wanted to see some dyno charts before going forward. Some dyno'd around or close to 300hp to the wheels and while that's a great improvement, I'm not super mechanically inclined so band-aiding here and there on the car isn't too appealing but it's REALLY AFFORDABLE!! My whole kit cost me approx $2,200!
If you're on a budget, do like what JeffTsai and Lexmada did and just add a turbo kit, Jeff has done probably the best write up on CL to go na-t and watching his speedo needle fly past the numbers makes me crave boost like a heroin addict. lol.
Until next year I'll probably be jumping back and forth between the options still... we'll see.
