Well I may sound paranoid but the number on the engine bay cover looks like the way they classified used parts at a junk yard. Since brand new parts always come in a plastic bag with the part number on a sticker. This is not normal for a brand new car...
My 06 pins holding the covers are the ones with a inner pin you have to push down to remove. Theses are definitely new. Probably for the best.

Double kudos to the 10th power for the Joe Z intake!! Why you ask? Just look at what is on the IS-F!
IMO, if it is good enough for Lexus to put it on the "performance oriented" IS-F, that has something to say about the design of the Joe-Z intake. Say Joe, to bad you didn't patent YOUR intake! LOL At the very least, Lexus should pay you a royalty of sorts.

Sorry guys... Clarification: I was referring to the F-Sport intake that will be offered for the IS250/350, not the OEM IS-F intake.

The ribs have two functions. First, they allow for flexibility as the engine torques and the air box is in a fixed position. Second, the ribs muffle the sound of air in movement. But for those of us in the know, ribs are really for pleasure! At least it says so on the box. LOL

It was explained to me that it has to do with the sound that air makes while rushing through the smooth bored tube. A solid tube creates a louder, whoooomping sound, as the air forms one large vorticy like a whirlpool. The ribs break up the one large vorticy by disturbing the air flow, thus resulting in less air intake sound.
I'd post a picture of it, but you'd probably object.
