DropTopGal's IS350 JoeZ Intake Instal
Hi guys.... Tonight I had my husband instal the JoeZ intake. Overall it was pretty easy to do. A few things worth mentioning.
1. The engine cover pulls straight up. Don't be afraid if it bends some.
2. The new clips are a real PITA!! See the pic how to take them off. With care, they come out without any problem. When putting them back in, the clips did not expand enough to hold the plastic pieces securely as the clips were loose. My husband eventually had to improvise and modified each clip so that they expanded securely.
3. Joe Z intake is great quality. It fit presicely. The only thing, the metal retention clamps that came with it did not fit over the throttle body when the provided silicone round things were on the throttle body. I used the factory clamp for the throttle body as it had a larger diameter.
4. When installing the Joe Z intake, be sure that the intake does not go right up against the throttle body or air intake box. When centered properly, there is about 1cm of space between the intake and the throttle body and air box. This allows the flexible silicone tube to absorb any engine movement.
5. After taking out the factory intake tube, I noticed two hoses that had some play in them and could actually touch the hot engine. My husband used zip ties (as seen in the pics) to secure those hoses.
Hope this post can help others. If it was not for the PITA clips, total install time would be about 15 minutes.

Even though my car is new, I noticed increased throttle response after installing the Joe Z intake. Do a search, others have dynod various intakes and the end result showed that the JoeZ with an aftermarket filter proved to provide some hp gain.
