wow i thought only oil filters... filter better when they are dirty what about cotton...oems???.....please be advise im talking about the stock air box filters...
All filters do a better job filtering when they are dirty because the larger path ways get clogged up. Even an A/C filter in a house removes more dirt / dust from the air when it's dirty. Think of it as a 5 micron filter slowly turning into a 4 micron, then a 3 ... until it's totally clogged. Of course, performance and fuel economy suffers at the same time.
No oil. Just throw the filter pad(s) into the cloths washer, but take note of the order and direction of the pads so you know how to put them back into the plastic frame.
I was going to buy an HKS but went with a K&N after reading these test results.
The HKS was rated very poor in filtering.
Cone filters, not drop ins but same Blitz,HKS,K&N and Apexi. All had the same filtering matierial as their own cone filters.
The website that compares all of the air filters doesnt mention if the Hks filter is the hybrid filter.. it does however mention that it needs special oil... so iam amusing that it is not the same thing.. i hope not ne ways since i do have the hks hybrid filter in my car,
