2 problems with the above-

Supposedly the -stock- intake already provides as much air as the engine is capable of using

and

Nobody can remap a US spec ISx50 ECU anyway

not true. there was a program that was released at SEMA this year that can squeeze out another 25hp for the 2is. my shop i go to ordered it and im waiting for them to call me to take my car in.

i3urton : u say u dynoed 266.54 rwhp? when u say lexus exhuast.. are you talking about the HKS japan exhuast made for lexus? or stock exhuast.

im asking.. cause i had my stock is350 dynoed on a mustang 500SE dyno. and it only read 230something. lost about 20 - 25 % from the fly to the wheel.

mustang dynos and dyno jet dynos read differently.. your rwhp shouldn't be near that low

is350jonny can you give me a little more detail about the software you saw at sema?why havent iheard of this before. with the 2is you need to pay around 800 just for a lil over 10 hp. now theres a program to squeeze of another 25?!?!?!

ill see what i can find out. my guys at the shop i go to went to SEMA as a buyer and when he got back called me up and told me he had a surprise for me. told me he just ordered a program where he can tap into my ecu and sqeeze out more power. i asked him how much more power... the vender told him up to 25. so i dunno if its true or not since he's still waiting for the program. we'll see... keep you guys updated once i get more info.

My first dyno run out of 3 when I was all stock read 237rwhp...But he did it 3 more times thinking it was a fluke and they ranged from 249-252

Guys, I just googled "IS350 ECU SEMA" and it showed this at the top of the list...

In 2007, the Japanese TOM'S aftermarket tuning firm produced a modified IS 350 with a revised ECU, new air filter, modified exhaust, and additional ...

However, once I clicked on it, it said nothing about TOM's or a revised ECU being @ SEMA....Just the general definition of the 1st-gen & 2nd-gen IS.

If any of you have the time to do some research, this is a good start seeing as it did talk about it being a "Revised ECU from Toms" in the search heading...

last I heard TOMs can reflash a JDM ECU all day long. This is part of their $10,000+ supercharger kit.

A US spec ECU? not so much.

If this has changed there's a LOT of people that'd love to know about it.

Oh ok. Yea, because I did hear something about that "ECU Flash" only working on ECU's with a certain serial number if you were to do the Tom's SC...

Well, if that's the case, then this guy's shop(IS350Johnny) is getting him a program that will not be applicable for his car, seeing as it's NA.....Unless it has the same effectiveness as buying something like an E-manage for a "near" stock 350, which is slim to no gains from what I hear.

I promise your reduction in mileage has nothing to do with the new intake. Fuel economy naturally drops off when it gets colder, and it looks like you're in a pretty cold area, right? Even down in Texas, my highway mileage has dropped significantly over the past couple months, and I haven't changed a thing. Actually, I just did a 400 mile trip over the weekend, and I didn't get any better mileage than you.

You also need to keep in mind that there is a HUGE difference in economy between 60, 70, and 80 MPH. I would be that you would easily average 30+ MPG with the cruise set at 60 MPH. The difference for me between 60 MPH and 80 MPH is almost 10 MPG.

Gernby is absolutely right. Colder air is denser, so to balance it out our cars add more fuel. Result is decreased fuel mileage and more power.

first of all.. not all 2is are North America produced. You need to look at your VIN. if your VIN starts with a J its produced and manufactured in Japan.
