Greddy or Tanabe??

i think the perfect combo for me would've been greddy sound and tanabe tips. tanabe isn't quite loud enough, but i can't stand the thicker tips of the greddy.

I just read an article in TPR (Tuner Performance Report) where they installed a Greddy on a modded IS350 (289HP base) and it produced just short of 20HP and 12 lb.ft. What struck me was the gains were across the whole curve and really nice in the mid range.

You mean an IS250 right? WOW and 20hp and 12 lb.ft. is way too much of a gain for an IS250 or an IS350...I call B.S.

i decided on the tanabe because 1) i didnt want a loud exhaust 2) i loved the way a 350Z/G35 factory exhaust note sounded. so i chose tanabe after weeks of research. cant be any happier. it took several months for my exhaust to break in FULLY.(mainly because i dont drive around much) it sounds similar to 350Z/g35 but a little more agressive. plus the tips fill in the exhaust outlets nice.

I had the HKS Hi-Power, but it was a little too loud for my taste, so I sold it and bought the Greddy, and I am glad I did. The Greddy looks and sounds awesome, imo. Not too loud, but loud enought for people to know that my exhaust isn't stock. I didn't even consider the Tanabe for two reasons: 1. Not loud enought, and 2. The tips look too skinny and wimpy.

Yeah the Tanabe alone is a bit quiet and only seems to have that nice deep sound in the very low rpms and high idle. After I did the mid-pipe mod, that deep tone is even deeper and louder all the the rpm band. Also the slight drone of the exhaust has become even slighter after the midpipe. Odd, but true.
Tanabe is also the lightest exhaust thus far.

After months of going back and forth between the 2 exhausts I decided to get the Tanabe. Got one of the last ones from showstoppersusa before they raise the price (Chuck is really helpful) and installed at Fast Autoworks (Tuan and staff were cool). Looking at pics of the exhaust I was actually anticipating the tips to be small but they are just perfect. Like everyone says there is no dronning but it's loud enough for ppl to know that you have an aftermarket exhaust.

When I picked it up at the shop Chuck said he had 5 left that he was selling at $549. After that he was raising prices on the next shipments because Tanabe is raising prices due to a slumping dollar. I am assuming the price is still the same because those are the last ones he got for that price.

i'm having a real hard time deciding between tanabe or greddy. i heard a greddy on a IS350 on youtube. and it sounds pretty deep.
and i also saw a clip of a IS250 with a tanabe and it sounds almost "ricer" and i really don't want that at all.
but if you say the tanabe sounds like a g35/350z then I'll get that. just trying to confirm!
