well What I was told was that 2800's typically give a CEL, and that you have a better chance with a 2600 Stall. Before I looked into Precision Industries, I checked out lextreme and saw he was using 2600 stall converters...and he gaurentees no CEL light
So I thought 2600 would be be safer from PI. So far I only have about 70 miles on my new converter...so time will tell.

Toyota and any credible source I've seen recommends running it after the factory tranny cooler. First you get the benefit of a little cooling from the stock cooler, second you add about another quart of tranny fluid which means it is easier to keep cool and slower to heat up.

For the guys who live in cold climits sure run the factory tranny cooler then to the aftermarket one.
I would run the aftermarket cooler only, You get the full effect of the cold air to cool the trans fluid. The engine temps can get up to 190-210 which is not good for trans. Most trans love 150 below temps.
Buddies of mine have 500whp 300z and 600whp stang and both are auto. The 300z runs 2 small trans coolers in the front and stays at 110 and shifts hard every time. the stang has a big one but is plumbed into the stock trans cooler in the rad and he has alot of over heating issues. Hits 220 and the trans does n ot hold power and sticks in gears.

This is only the case if you put the aftermarket cooler BEFORE the radiator. If you do this, the cooler fluid temperature will be heated up by the radiator. Put the cooler AFTER the radiator and the cooler would do it's job and cool down the fluid before it reaches the tranny again.

I believe Lextreme uses stock torque converters, opens them up and changes the internals and stall speed. I think you send your stock one is as a core; the Lextreme ones are a lot less expensive but Precision Industries are PROVEN to be built good/tough; that's why they are $700 bucks. Also, don't forget (very important) you will need a tranny cooler to further cool the trans fluid...these high stall torque converters WILL fry your tranny in NO TIME without an additional tranny cooler; this is PROVEN.
By the way not trying to be a pessimist (just looking out) but there are many members here that have the PI TC installed on their 430's and some never get a CEL and some do get the CEL...no one has yet to understand why the CEL is triggered on some 430's but not on others; and people have said the install was not the problem. It may be that you will just need to take a chance and hope that your 430 is one of the lucky ones. GL again...

I am finally going to put a body kit on my ride (I have been slowly accumulating the parts I wanted) in the Spring. So far that alone cost me another $2000 and for install and paint will be another $2000. It NEVER ends. It's worse now because I just finished paying my car off.
The best advice I can give you is try not to "hang" or compare to others on these forums. Some may have less resources than you however some may have more resources so dropping $5K on a full Big Brake Kit (BBK) is nothing to them. Stay within your means and keep it classy. The beautiful thing about modding is that it doesn't always come down to who spends the most...it's who has the best taste/style with their build. GL man!
