I know most guys usually upgrade to bigger turbos, I down graded. I went from a PT67BB to a smaller GT35r Turbo. Impressions, The car is much more responsive and lively and feels faster. Give it gas and you are instantly building boost, unlike the PT67 you have to wait till 3800 to 4000rpm for all hell to brake loose. On to the numbers, GT35R at 21lbs of boost I made 532 at the wheels and 502 torque on 93 pump gas. Those numbers are pretty similar to the PT67BB with less LAG. My advise if you planning to go turbo a GT35R is a perfect street turbo for our cars on pump gas. If you don't mind the Lag and you are planning to use race gas often then go with the PT67.
The only thing I miss about the the PT67BB is the sound of it. You can hear the turbo spooling up from a distance before all hell brakes loose.
On my application the only time the PT67 shined over the GT35r was on race gas when we turned the boost all the way up. I will keep my race gas numbers to my self at this time but to give you a hint I am over 600rwhp.

Maybe a 75 shot to help spool you up. I think that turbo might be an over kill for your car. If I had a GTE head like you I would go with a 67mm or maybe a 72mm with a 3800 high Stall. However, even with a built tranny 700@ the wheels is going to break it. I don't know Jeff I think a 67 might be your answer, GTE head, 2 fuel pump and Water meth would put you at 600+ at 24 or 25lbs of boost with out all that lag you are going to get with the T51R.
