Default Power gains on F-sport intake and exhaust- per Sewell's website

Sewell has posted power gains on their website for the F-sport exhaust and intake (per the website):

Exhaust--
# Material - 304 Stainless Steel
# Finish - Polished
# Tubing Diamter - 60mm (43% larger than original IS exhaust)
# Power Increase - 22 HP on IS350

Intake--
# Filter Material - High-flow dry polyester, resusable
# Power Increase - Up to 3%

Hopefully Darrel will chime in as to whether this was at the wheels, and whether they are max numbers with both on the car together.

22 hp on the exhaust seems quite good...almost too good.

22 hp from an axle back? Seems a bit optimistic.

But then again, who knows? Did they post a dyno with the parts?

Every intake and exhaust available is going to have some rediculously inflated dyno chart backing it up. This is no different.

yea that seems really optimistic for an axle back Exhaust. I know the cat back exhausts only get around 16 hp..

22hp for the axel back exhaust is a huge overstatement!

So the F-sport intake gives up to 3% HP increase, that's up to 9HP more. I think it's possible to acheive that increase from just an intake upgrade. Although 22HP from an axle back exhaust on a non-turbo car seems a little high to me. Comments?

My general rule is to take the manufacturers claims and divide them by 2. So that would mean a real world gain of 11hp for the exhaust and 1.5% for the intake. No logic, just my rule. I base my dollar/hp math like this to keep everything in perspective.

Regards,

the intake is very possible since we seen gains of about 5hp with using the JoeZ, This intake being the same design just with a new box and drop in filter, it is plausible.

Both seem high to me. Lets see some hard core #'s to prove this. Like Turbo_gg said we do not have a turbo car here...anyone taken their car to the dyno to see?

if anything the f-sport intake, or a diy thread, should be the intake of choice. the extra hole is nice, but the hole also has flanged lips that help create a vortex suction in the air flow (not a lot its just an easy design change for a little extra performance) AND it has the fins inside the stock airbox removed (which would need to be done on a diy for the extra hole to really have a purpose).

i could see larger diameter pipes helping an exhaust in the middle maybe but all the way at the end seems strange so yea i'd call inflation too.

^ Lots of great posts here..

But yes I agree 5-7 rwhp on the intake max...

&

5-6 rwhp max on the exhaust... is all your going to see from both..

On a fully redesigned true dual exhaust replacement with high flow cats and 2.25 mandrel bent tubing, we are only seeing 8-10 rwhp max gains.. on an IS350
(just some food for thought)

I agree, but I guess 5 on the intake and 3 at the most on the exhaust. That shoud be at the wheels. The advertised numbers are absurd.

Either mod is also enhanced by each other. Meaning you will get more by combining the mods than each individually. What good is a high flow exhaust if the intake can't keep up; and vice versa.
