Default OMG!! Guys Please help me on Tanabe Exhaust installation!!!

Hey there,

So I installed the tanabe exhaust on my car last night. It was straight forward until I found that I cannot 'fully' connect the tanabe Y-pipe to the resonator. theres like a 10mm gap in between it, is it normal? (see pics below)

Sorry, It was my first time posting a picture ...

Thanks in advance !

Do you have the full exhaust bolted up? I installed this same exhaust in my garage so I think I can help you out...

Did you install the resonator connection part first or last? I think it's easiest to do this connection first so that it is lined up perfectly then you do the rest and adjust as needed.

I installed the resonator part last.
So basically, it should be "fully" connected with no gap?
I guess I will have to take it apart and re-do it again

Does it leak?
If not it may have the gap built in.
I am expecting mine tomorrow so I will find out when I put it on.

The gap is fine just check for a leak. If no leak your golden.

if it leaks you will hear air hissing out if its leaking you will know so most likely it isnt.

yeah there's a very small gap in mine too, but that's why the gasket is there to make a seal. Just listen for a leak.

best solution.....delete the resonator.
i did for $40 at a place in SD. idk...it seemed like a pretty good deal.
it sounds soo much better at WOT and made my car a little, and i mean LITTLE, bit louder. the sound it makes kinda reminded me of an Evo, but thats just me. x]
now with my tanabe and injen intake...it roars.

To check it for a leak, when the car is cold spray a little soapy water on it and watch for bubbles.
If it gets warm to hot they will bubble due to heat not a leak.
Mine will go on tomorrow the cup playoffs are in the second overtime so I must watch.
