I just came across this thread on Supraforums, I was surprised some of the quickest Supras on the planet are running the GE motor over the GTE. Here are some cliffs, this thread is in the drag racing section, one of the best kept secrets.
"8.40's, 1500whp, and 229mph on a GE block."
"I've heard the VVTI GE head has the best geometery out of any 2JZ head. The intake port volume is a bit small, but can be opened up to GTE size."
"no ****...i got my GE block for free...8.1@171mph and still going.."
"We have a stock un-ported GE head on the Probe with stock valves. Just valve springs and 272 cams and it did 904 rwhp through a powerglide. I think the GE head is really good."
"We run a GE block too. It was also free. This is why we need to stop talking about it.
"Not having oil squiters means there will be more pressure available for the bearings, which is good for a drag racing application."
"Not to mention that the GE ports are higher in the head allowing for what seems to be a better angle to the valve. Less dramatic SSR. This may give the GE head a bigger advantage over the TT head."

That was always my understanding as well. Hey Adam on a sidenote, Terrie said that you have a new tuning guy? PM me on SF if you want to keep it private.
Thanks!
Eric

whats up Eric? Yea the guy is Rick Bowers @ Speedtech in Merrit Island. 321-544-3089
He is a Electrical engineer for NASA and has a part time shop for a year or so, then he retires and goes full time. I couldn't be happier, price workmanship, tuning, wiring. The guy gets it all done better than anyone I've seen in my 15+ years of moding cars.
