So I read again, it's just a 4.7L conversion...

----------------
1992 SC400: RWHP is about 180 whp
1995 SC470: RWHP is about 226 whp and 256 rwtq
with 28% drive train lost.
Max. Output (SAE-NET) 315@5000 rpm
Max. Torque (SAE-NET) 356@3900 rpm

With high compression we can easily see additional 20-30 bhp and 35-40 tq.
----------------

So the GS400 puts out 240 whp? so that's 14whp lost?
So that means you will be spending $6-7000 for a extra for what?

I couldn't see that he has a 4.7 into a GS... I wanted to do NA, but I guess there's not really anything yet?

What do you mean by this? They referenced that you will gain 50 - 75whp with this shortblock ALONE but the real kicker is WHEN the torque hits; fully at low rpms (3000rpms) as opposed to 4500-5500rpms.

Yes, a stock GS4xx yields around 240whp sometimes as low as 235whp and as high as 245whp; 20% loss @ the drivetrain. So this would bring you up to around 300whp maybe up to 320whp completely N/A! Add some headers (~17whp; known), intake and exhaust (~5whp; est.) and an A/F tuner (~15whp; known) and you can have as much as 350whp on your GS4 for $6000-7000 plus shipping and install. No tuning needed EVER thereafter; just change oil...

Actually, I have don't really know, it's just that the SC470 got 226whp as opposed to GS4 getting about 240whp... if it would add 50-70whp ON TOP of that, then I think it's alright, but for $5-7K, that's still a lot.... but then, compared to turbo or supercharge, blah

But I still want to see how much power and how much more gas it's going to use... and for high compression, thought we already have 10.5:1 compression? how high of a compression will that be? Just hope we can still use 92 octane...

I want to know how hard would it be to put a 1jz or a 2jz supra swap in a gs400 and just build from there.

It can be done but you will have to put more $$$ into this swap than a swap in a GS300. The engine mount points are also different from GS4XX to the GS300. Many here would say it is "pointless." If you want "the swap" sell the GS4XX and buy a GS300 and work from there. This is just from what I have read here on the CL forums.

You can do a swap in a Gs400 almost as easily as a 300. The chassis is the same, the engine mounting points are the same, you would have to use gs300/supra mounts but thats no big deal, most likely the swap will come with them. It really wouldn't be much more work if any to do a swap in a 400/430 than a 300.

I didn't know this, I thought the front subframes might be different. Good info. Whats the difference between the GS400 and the GS430?

You guys need this. Bring money, drop it off at the door step, you'll get a call when it's done.

Mechanically just the engine (displacement increase) the rest is just cosmetic.

I thought I would add my 2 cents. As background I have been supercharged and turbocharged in my GS400, started with modest goals lost my mind and wanted more and more.

You can get a basic single turbo setup for around 10K with 7psi or so run a piggy back and call it a day.

twin turbo is cool, but I dont know if it really gives any advantage at the powerlevels we are talking.

If I had it to do over I would not FI the GS400, it is the wrong platform to start with, while there is more aftermarket support now than there was when I started fooling around with it, I still think it is too expensive. For the money I spent on this car I could of bought a C6 Vette.

Now if I had cash wanted to be diffferent and was going for cool sure a Twin turbo GS400 or SC400 would be great. I do like to be different but dont have cash, dont care about cool.

If you really want to FI your GS400 have limited funds and will be able to control your lust for power, I would get a bracket from Lextreme, buy a vortech some injectors and a intercooler and a piggy back and call it a day. Oh and a Wideband. You could get into this for under 10K very easily i would think and with a stock engine/tranny

You make some very good points. Thanks very much for your input. I don't really have to have the cool points. I just like to be a little different.

My experience was right undder 400rwhp on stock engine and tranny. All you would need would be piggyback, injectors intercooler, vortech and bracket.
Oh and oilcooler

optional would be tranny cooler and torque converter if you wanted
