Default SRT Intake on gs 300??

Im new to this club and in the works of purchasing a SRT Intake and by looking at all these forums it looks like the way to go. I might be looking to install myself and was wondering if there are any DIY installs on here.

Thanks Al.

the install of an intake is very simple, the srt chip from what i've read seems easy as well. you can purchase it from srt at http://www.swiftracing.com/SRT/item.aspx?id=5
that is for the 1998-2000 gs300 intake with race ecu

but for the price of the srt you could pick up a cheaper intake/filter and purchase a unit such as apexi afc (fuel computer) and be able to do further tuning if/when you upgrade anything else on the car.

the pros and cons to both methods have been discussed a few times and i believe the general conscientious is intake and afc over the srt system

but to answer your question about a diy there should be instructions with the srt detailing how to install it.

thanks for the info. I dont think that i want to do too much because this is my daily driver. And as far as being in the snow will it mess up the snow button feature on the car?

what intake did you get?

Off Topic:

I got the SRT on my IS and it sounds shweet. I get about 15-20% more mpg.
Also, its a bigger tube at 3.5" compared to the stock 2.75", hence why I want to get an 80mm TB. I have a 2jz in my car as well

yeah definitely get the SRT. I have one on my 2001 gs300 that I purchased from masboy (wuts up kevin!) and it sounds like the bomb (tick tick) and raised my fuel economy by at least 2mpg!! car does feel slightly slower on the lower end but I'm hoping my new exhaust thats coming should eliminate that hindering backpressure from the stock exhausts.

you're slower on the low end because the increased diameter of the intake. the bigger the tube the slower the air going in thus lower torque...

So the general consensus with this intake on a 300 is that you lose low end power but gain it up high?

Does this make the car quicker/more powerful over all or does it just sound better?
