I think Jeremy has a NEO, or its predecessor (Apexi SAFC)

Yea I got 6 HP from tuning the SAFC on the dyno. I leaned it out @5% starting at 4600 rpm's. All it done was smooth out the power band in the upper rpms. I was also able to get rid of the hicup from the the VVT-i also.

The Bad. It only takes @ 1000 miles for our stock ECU to learn around the controller. So a reset is needed at that point. If you fiqure that you are only at WOT about 2% of the time during the 1000 mile learning curve then it really makes it kinda useless. Nice for a track day for you guy's that are into that.

If the ECU is slowly tuning out the SAFC, then your settings are probably too agressive. If you set the partial throttle adjustments to all 0's, then set the full throttle adjustments to only take effect at 90% or more throttle, then it should always be in open loop when the SAFC is doing its thing.

This seems to be a common issue with closed loop operation. I am a complete novice at piggy backs etc.. for cars but I was reading up on the AEM FIC. This can control multi-port injectors directly (nothing for DI yet) but it also can tweak the MAF sensor input in a similar fashion to what the Apexi products do.

The FIC also has the ability to tweak the O2 sensor inputs to prevent the vehicles ECU from canceling out the A/F modifications if my understanding is correct.

It seems like an interesting part to experiment with one day.

I seriously down the FIC can tweak wideband O2 sensors like we have.

It seems to be able to handle narrow and wideband O2 sensors. Attached is the page with a basic diagram.

Lexus calls our sensors Air/Fuel sensors but AFAIK, it's the same as a wideband.

Again, I am very interested to see what the FIC could do.

GOSH!!!!
Why cant some company SAC up and develop some piggyback. Why is it so hard to decode the IS350 ECU??. I mean people buy this car for around 40K Im sure they's also pay a grand or two more to get like 30HP from some piggy back.

Im not an expert on this, but im sure if it was easy to decode like other cars we would have some options. but i just find it unreal that for a car with 306 hp, and Import from Japan, there are no legit ECU piggybacks. why exactly is that?

Piggy backs don't require any "decode" of the ECU, and piggy backs work just fine on the 2IS. However, there certainly isn't 30 HP to be gained from them.

The only thing that seems to be missing from the piggy-back market is the bonafide ability to control the direct injection. I think it will only be a matter of time before it’s available.

Without a doubt, yes. In the next few years cars from all makes will start selling DI engines in much higher volumes. GM (Caddy, Camaro), Ford (Ecoboost) etc.... So the aftermarket demand for DI controllers will grow.
