are the plastic covers under the hood restricting air flow?

I leave the intake cover on, because everytime I drive with it off, the Intake sounds like it's whistling, kinda annoying

I removed all my engine bay covers

and I have a mesh grill so i'm getting double the air flow!

3 reasons as to why they are there. educe engine noise, less dust accumulates, covers the ugly wires(looks) . i think anyway.
