Default IS 350 Upgrades

How's everyone doing? Well one of my friends purchased an 08 IS 350 today? I don't know much about Lexus upgrades, nor does he. The dealership installed the F sport exhaust (sounds really good) and the F intake. What other modifications should he look into. The car he traded for the 350 was an 03 M3/SMG tranny. Thanks for the help.

To improve performance from the engine? Not much. This car is not exactly tuner friendly at all.

uh..exhaust + intake
is pretty much everything you can do to this car..lol
unless you go super charger or turbo..

tell your friend that he picked up the wrong car if he was hoping to
tune it..lol..but IS350 should be fast enough on the road!

Be aware that there have only been 2 superchargers available for the car-

LMS- about $5000 for about 40 rwhp...pretty awful bang for the buck, and they stopped selling em because nobody was buying em.

TOMs- about $10,000 and requires a non-US spec car... and you get an extra 0.8 lbs of boost, which doesn't do much.

There are 0 turbo kits available

You can improve throttle response with Tom's linear throttle control system.

which is a massive waste of money.

i still say this is a beautiful car with enough power, and if you don't believe so there are a couple ponies and aesthetic qualities to be unlocked. but as mentioned before if you were hoping to get greasy you got the wrong car.

Other mods he should consider would include springs or coilovers, sway bars, and lightweight 19" or 20" rims. As mentioned above, there are not any meaningful engine upgrades available.

yes i agree, intake and exhaust are about the only things available for our cars performance wise. i would tighten up the suspension with sway bars, coils, etc. and throw on some nice wheels. the 250 owners have headers but no one has made a "WORKING" one for our 350's yet. "WORKING" as in we dont have to bug the ecu with a faulty sensor crap.

Which would cost even -more- than the supercharger and still not add much power bang-for-buck. You can't touch the ECU, and you're running a 12:1 compression ratio. You simply can't run much boost on pump fuel without destroying the engine not matter how you build the system.
