Default Bottom Line F-Sport Intake

A simple question from a simple guy. W/o complimentary exhaust system mod's, is the F-Sport intake, by itself, worth the money for either improved horsepower or improved MPG?

Thank You -

improved horsepower = no
improved mpg = no

so, not worth the money if you are considering those two factors

however,
improved sound = yes

that's what you should be looking for by adding intake

i wouldnt say no. its said to increase hp by like 2-3% or something along those lines. an increase is an increase and thats how i see it.

say you had these bolt ons, on their best performing days:
tanabe exhaust +5rwhp
joez intake +5rwhp
megan midpipe +1-2rwhp

thats an increase its not the numbers everyone wants, but its + power. again most of these mods are for looks/sound rather actuall gains. but to say there is no actual gain isnt a true statement, the gains are so insignificant that you wouldnt notice.

Anyone see any issues with doing the install myself? The install is super easy and i'll say at least $100 from having the dealer do it.

Thanks

Just make sure you have the silicone sleeves on the right way when you're putting the pipe on.

If you install yourself, you lose the warranty. Sure you'll have a 12 month parts warranty but its not covered under the car's bumper to bumper. In order for an F-Sport parts to be covered under the bumper to bumper, the part needs to be installed by Lexus.

Guess how much Lexus is going to charge you for installing a simple intake.........

It's a box and a tube. What exactly are you expecting to go wrong with either after 12 months that will need repair?

I called a local dealer they want almost $400 to install. Mentioned removing my bumper. BS...I've seen the Lexus How-to thanks to Sewell, it takes less then an hour and is super easy.

Whats with the BS? This is also the dealer I price checked for the intake that wanted over $500 for it... I know Sewell is good. Prob just get it and do it myself.

For anyone that's installed it the intake: do you know which way the tube coupler connecting to the throttle body is supposed to be? I connected it so that the end with the smaller diameter fit over the pipe and the bigger diameter fit over the throttle body, is this right? lol I hope so, I just installed and I hope I dont have to redo the whole thing. btw my coupler didn't come with a line in the middle did any of your guys? That's probably why the other end of my pipe sits a little short of flush from the air cap. Thanks in advance

yeah thats right. The smaller side goes on the throttle body while the bigger side goes on the tube. Thus, bigger 52 clamp goes on bigger side and smaller 48 clamp goes on smaller side...

i did the install last wkend too.
