Default Air Filter Question...

This question might have been kicked to death but I tried performing a search and could not get an answer. I have a '00 GS300 and she is stock. I would like to upgrade the air filter, but don't want to upgrade to a new intake. I was advised against doing this by my local Lexus dealer who services my car.

I have read negatives about the K&N drop in filter because of the oil issue. Who makes a replacement (dry) filter which will increase air flow and improve performance? Thanks ahead of time and I apologize if this has already been discussed.

You could go the route I went but use a filter from AEM I think they use dry filters.

Thanks, I will have to give AEM a try. I like that setup and I would like to do a complete cold air intake, but my service advisor told me it would make my car run rough.

its pretty much the stock piping but i seperated the box with the drop in filter from the MAF and slapped on a high flow filter i had laying around from my old car. then i drilled a hole in the bottom of the MAF and put a nozzle for the hose that was connected on the box i took out. then i welded just a bar i cut (i know it doesn't look to good) and braced the pipe so the filter wouldn't move around all over the place. So far i haven't had any CEL come on and it runs about the same. There is increased engine noise but i can't tell how much cause of my exhaust pretty much drowns it out.
