Default Megan Mid Pipe and Smog Test

Hello,

I am about to purchase a megan mid pipe to add on to my tanabe medallion touring exhaust for my Lexus is350 and I wanted to know if it will pass a smog test in California. If anyone from Cali can chime in I would greatly appreciate the info.

Thank you

It won't pass visual without the secondary cats.

Technically speaking, you will not pass a visual inspection. It will likely pass a tailpipe exhaust test. If you take it to a shop that doesnt know much, they might pass it. But usually when you see shiny pipes, its an instant red flag.

Go to the City of El Monte Drive Down Garvey Ave. and pick a smog test place. Be straight with them and tell them that you need to get it to pass smog even though you have this and that on your car.
They can care less about the physical inspection, and they will try and pass you if they can. If they can get the machine to pass you they will.

Yeah, in IL they just hook up to OBD and see if it is throwing codes.

I think most places these days just check through the OBD port. They also do that here in VA with no visual. When I had the Megan midpipe my IS350 passed Emissions with flying colors.
