GS3 engine noise...plz help!
My 1994 Lexus GS 300 makes a metallic sound similar to slapping two spoons together. The noise can also be described as shaking a can with a few ball bearings in it. The sound occurs under the following conditions:
*While driving in the 1900-2100 rpm rev range
*Engine is warm and accelerating under a slight load
*Tranny is generally in 3rd or 4th gear
*A/C can be on or off
The sound is inconsistent with engine speed (in rev range) and has no rhythm. Above 35mph, the sound dies out due to wind noise. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

atlboy24,
As a disclaimer I'm not an ASC master mechanic. From your general discription I'm guessing the problem has something to do with your transmission. It could be that you need to retorque your factory flex-plate (drive-plate) or get a new one. Worse case senario you might need a new/rebuilt tranny.

I've experienced the same problem with the GS, I think it does it with most of them, at certain times, I think it might have to do with the brakes, It happened to me one time when I was Reversing out of a driveway, and I turned the wheel and pressed the brakes lightly and it made that loud Tin can rattling sound, idunno though can't be anything serious.. But it would be annoying if it happened all the time <Knock on wood>
