on our dyno, that reverse spike in the reading is from losing RPM pickup. also, dynojets dont apply any load, you are basically spinning a known weight, and the power is mathmatically figured by how fast that weight is accelerated. mustang dynos apply a load to the rollers to simulate the weight of the vehicle.

as for car manufacturers, i believe they just use engine dynos. since they dont care about whp numbers, only crank, you wouldnt need a chassis dyno.

so...how much power can the engine reliably push stock with no internal mods?

You can spray a 75 shot on the 430 without any issues and be reliable since you aren't running it 100% of the time. That would put you a little over 300 at the wheels which equates to about 375 crank hp.

I wouldn't go above 400whp consistently (turbo/supercharger) with out internal mods as far as max power goes, you are going to run into transmission issues as well as getting to the point of dramatically reduced engine life (ring wear etc...).

[QUOTE=Bliggity;4060168]Thanks, really good info! 4th gear pulls. I am in the works with a local CL member to buy his headers this weekend, if it works out as planned I will take her back next Thursday to the Dyno.[/QUOTIt is good that he was able to us 4th gear, it can be hard w/o dropping to 3rd. Did you get air/fuel reading?. If not maybe see if you can get it next time.
