Im new to this forum, and im in the same boat as SCKGS430, my hp goals are about the same, but capable of 5-600hp later on. I have researched many of the forums to include clubna-t and there seems to be no solid answer and i guess its preference.

SCK, with an NA-T kit, head gasket/stud upgrade, 440cc injectors, and 255 fuel pump, as well as tranny cooler and maybe valve body upgrade, plus other supporting mods, you will make about 325rwhp, with the potential to push more.
edsones, for the capability of going to 600hp safely i would probably lean toward a swap, though it is doable by going NA-T.
for a swap, you will need to source the very elusive aristo VVTi front clip, meaning Engine, ECU, harness, and trans. This should cost you between 3-5k. Professional installation will run you another 2-3k. Left alone, this will give you 320hp at the crank, or 256rwhp.

read through that first.
I would go na-t...but you run into a big problem (ie money) when you go above 300hp...the essentials to get to 350-400 (in addition to a normal na-t setup) are new injectors, thicker HG, upgraded fuel pump, arp studs..and then you start to get into transmission problems...right now im at 8psi, and about 290-300 rwhp and to go from 300 to 350 it would cost me about $1000-$1500 (all parts not installation)
you can get 300rwhp for about $3500 (labor not included)..so its up to you if that 50 extra hp is worth it

Basically, it's all depending on your power goals. If your goals are under about 450-500 hp, then you can most likely get away going NA-T. Now for over 500, go with a swap. No matter what it's going to be expensive.

Am I the only one that noticed his screenname is sckgs430 If you own a gs430 there is no na-t option or one that is affordable, in this cae swap is your only smart option. Also since its a 430 i would say non vtt-i.

well dont forget though, a 2jz, even a 1jz IIRC is possible in a 4x0, just less practical.

but, if the plan is high, reliable and more affordable power, a GTE is the way to go rather than spending the more than ~20k it takes to TT a gs4 or sourcing a nearly extinct S/C kit.
