Default Engine Management Question

Hi everyone, by this weekend I'll be the proud owner of a 99 GS300. My last car was a 600whp Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution so I'm no stranger to performance. I am a noob when it comes to these cars, however, so I'm looking to my new family for some help.

First on my aggenda is to do a non vvti 2jz-gte swap into the GS. My question for the guys who have done this is what king of engine management systems are you running and is it possible to use the stock GS300 wire harness with the JDM non-vvti motor? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

as far as engine management youre gonna want to go with an AEM EMS, Haltech or similar. MoTec if you have the pennies. As far as the harness, i would think yes you could use it with the non VVTi motor but it would require some wiring trickery, since the GS is wired for VVTi and all it's little sensors. If you're running standalone i would think you could run whatever the hell ya wanted haha.

Most JDM gte's come with ECU and harness so don't see whats stopping us from using the JDM ECU? Is it just lengthening the harness to mount the ecu in stock position?

I have heard the standard cam is capable of more HP stock and the VVTi run about $1k more which could be put towards a nice stand alone if you can afford it.
