yes, it's normal. All of the heat given off by your engine will heat the intake tube. This hot air is also getting sucked into your engine, which is the reason a true cold air intake is better than the short ram versions most of us use.

Yes, Very normal...
Just like all the other components inside the engine bay..
The good thing is that the constant rapid air flow inside the tube that travels via the the oem airbox & scoop, is never in there long enough to be heated to what the intake surface temp. may be...![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

I personally just installed the F-sport intake. The only difference in the air box is a square hole that can be seen facing the engine bay and looking down, on the front side of the box, basically the same size as the hole on the right that connects to the air flow piece on top of the grill. hard to explan haha, but several members have performed this cut in the stock box so maybe they will give better direction on materials.
