Default Rev Limiter Problem

I went to the track last night and when using the full auto mode, I bounced the rev limiter in three gears. Needles to say, I had a bad time (13.9). I then turned on the power mode and ran a 13.5 and 13.4, with no bouncing the limiter. I do feel that I could have squeezed a little more out of her if I could have gotten that extra couple hundred RPM out of the regular mode.

I’m wondering if changing the rear tire size had anything to do with bouncing the limiter. I went to a 275/35/18 which has approx a half inch smaller overall diameter. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what was your experience? Also, if anyone has had this bouncing problem what can be done to eliminate it? Maybe disconnecting the battery to re-learn the computer. Any help would be appreciated!

Note – The 275s hook up fantastically. I put about two to three cars on a modded Evo (out of the hole) before he ran me down. He ran a 12.4. Unfortunately I ran him when I ran my best time and it kind of took away from my 13.4.

I run a smaller diameter tire than you (255/35-18 - street and 245/35-18 - track), and I haven't had this problem. I have momentarily bounced the rev limiter in 1st gear many times, but I don't think it cost me any time.

I have one other suspicion. Between removing the spare/jack/tools, necessary junk and running almost empty, I removed approx 200 lbs. I had two people in the car for the drive to the track, so my first run was the first time at WOT, with a 200 lbs. reduction. Just a suspicion.

I wonder if the electronic systems constantly learn or learn and have to be reset by disconnecting the battery. I would like to avoid disconnecting the battery. I'll have to get one of those cheap 9v memory maintainers.

I could see the weight being an issue from 1st to 2nd, but not really after that. Resetting the ECU's might be a good idea, but I would do it before heading to the track so they would have some miles of learning before you get there.

I don't understand the thing about the 9V memory maintaner. If you want to reset the ECU, then you would NOT want the 9V memory maintainer.

I thought it only maintained peripherals. What was I thinking? I'll reset the ECU and see what happens. Thanks for your comments.
