Default Is 28lbs heavy for 19" wheels? Your opinions.

Last year I damaged 2 wheels due to a really bad pothole and was waiting for the town to reimburse me; never happened so I bought 2 new wheels. I recently sold the 2 damaged wheels and the other 2 older wheels along with my old tires.

I kept my 2 new(er) wheels in hopes of buying the 9.5" wide versions for the rear (same make and model obviously). The thing is I found these rear wheels for cheap...about $550 for both! But 4 new tires (Toyo T1R's) will set me back another $1000. So it looks like I am going to spend roughly $1600 all together.

Should I go for this eventhough they are 1pc (heavy 28lb) wheels?

or

Should I try to also get rid of my 2 new(er) wheels (which will be hard) and try to find a used set of (lightweight) multipiece wheels and tires for under $2000?

or

buy a completely new set of (lighter) 1pc wheels and tires for $2000?

I am not sure what I should do and the season is nearing! I need advice! Help!

IMO it might be worth it to get the lightest wheels you can find/afford for your driving style and performance needs.

It's kind of apples to oranges, but my L-Sportline 3-piece 20's shipping weight was 54 lbs. for the 20x8.5 fronts with 245/35, and 58 for the 20x9.5 rears with 275/30. According to the Falken specs the tires weigh 27 and 28 lbs. respectively; meaning the wheels weigh about 27 and 30 lbs. Definitely not the lightest wheels out there but I don't push the car that often.

Check these out, get custom fitment and the 19x10 is 25 lbs. Best part is they are $1350/set at introductory price .

Holy crap! Your 19's are only 21lbs! That is nuts! What kind are they? I would love to free up 7lbs of unsprung (rotational) weight at each corner...I'm sure the car will definitely "feel" more responsive. LMK!

g35's wheels are that weight...problem is, 255's is the largest you can do safely. I am currently running it... pretty tough wheels.

7lbs won't make a big difference, I doubt you will be able to tell the difference just by driving. I don't think you should spend that kind of money changing wheels just for weight reduction. IMOP, it's not worth the gain vs the cost, sice you already have wheels.

...well, I only have 2 wheels now and no tires so it's kind of like I have nothing. The wheels I have now can be had for $250-$300/ea. I was thinking of just buying new 9.5" rears for $550 (price I go quoted) and buy tires for all. But now I am looking at the 1pc Forged wheels that mex lex just provided the link on. They are NICE!

If you're starting from fresh, then might as well

Those 19's on the other post are a sweet deal

i have a set of reallly rare Racing Hart Cp-035r Fully polished, worth about 3g's brand new. Most people say the strongest (fully forged) lightweight racing wheels. they are 18x9.5 rear and 18x8 front. but the only problem is the front wheels are bent so it will leak major. the rear wheels are perfect. These wheels are fixable.
