auto supra diff question
#17
I know what you mean, I was bidding on a Supra rear end, for $199, and the guy out bid me at the last second. Hind sight, I would have bid way more, but now I am having trouble finding just the LSD unit for under $500. That being said, I am personal contact with someone over at supraforums that has the OEM auto torsen, just the LSD unit though. He is asking $450 shipped with I bleive lkess than 70k, PM if you'd like some more info. I bought a project for $400, so I can no longer purchase this, although I'd love to. I even purcahsed a GS300 rear end just for the gearing, but I have to wait for another I guess.

The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how the top speed is limited, I originally heard its mechanically limited cause of the lower gearing but it seems that if it stops at 5k rpm at 130 then its electronically limited...anyone know for sure
#22
Electronically limited on these cars. I hit at 150mph in about 14 seconds or less from a stop, so I had to defeat the limiter to go faster. Of course, it involves using a standalone though

I think I can do it in at least 13.9

I just bit the bullet and bought a new one from MVP. You know you cant reuse the carrier bolts and to get a seal/bearing kit. The bolts are torque so much that they are actually stretched and can't be resused. Go your local toyota parts and order them, they are like 1.20-1.75 each. If you need to part number let me know.
Funny thing is the bolts for the 6spd LSD which there are 12 cost like 4.00+ each. Good luck on the install.

Slowdriver posted the correct Part # for the bolts: 90105-12219, Horsepower Freaks has them at $1.14 ea. I went on a purchased the install kit for the LSD from MVP. Because they had everything you needed as a kit. Seals bearings and all that. Also, the torque on them is something like 47 ft-lb, then mark the bolt after torquing. Then turn another 60-90 degree. Some one verify that, got that from my mechanic and toyota service manual. Again verify, because I am at work and tired and might be off on something. Good Luck, I can't wait to drive my SC with the LSD installed.

Adam, call up Curt over at Elmhurst toyota and get everything for your LSD install since that's where dusty at MVP get's the majority of his parts. You'll want new seals and rings since you don't want any leaks down the road.
