Default hello, 2jz tranmission help! (jdm)

i want to do a 2jz swap the jdm gte to my 98 gs300 the motor is easy my dad can import for me, but i heard the transmission is going to give me problems, because from electronic to the straight up and down old school shifting like the older camry's, its going to be automatic. i just want to know how you do it, or does it bolt right on, that's what i heard i had to mod but to mod what i am not sure. Thanks in advance

if you're getting a vvti gte motor, than find a 30-40le with electronic shifter instead of cable shifter and you'll be fine. I'm sourcing all the parts now to build a 800 rwhp capable transmission now. Stay tuned.

I have the 2JZGTE non vvti motor in my 2001 Lexus GS300, this is not a direct swap by any means. Motor mounts won't work, A/C won't work.. lots of issues. get the vvti motor and call it a day.

You get the Vvti Gte motor from a 2001+ Aristo.

I wanted the non vvti motor myself. I'm just glad I had an electrical engineer as my installer / tuner. Grip industries helped me out with the motor mount issues. I'm loving the GS300 now, 18 psi on pump gas with the manual transmission, PTE74mm turbo, and 272 cams with a stand alone makes for one hell of a ride. I took my car to the scales, came in at 3730 with a 1/4 tank of gas and the spare tire / tools in the trunk.

All the secobd generation Gs300's are vvti. 1998-2005.

so the vvti would bolt right on and a/c will work? because in southern cali it get really hot at times and i need a/c my bro's dc2 doesnt, and im pretty big so it is even hotter. i just want power and bolt right on, and the wiring needs to be modded correct? and i was wondering which one is faster? vvti or the non vvti? my dad is looking for a vvti one for me i just need the car, so any year will work? like the 98-05 just not the v8 version?
