Very interesting. How robust is the artisan twin turbo setup for the IS-F? Anyone have any experience with this?

For $15,000 it -better- be robust!

http://www.turbochargers.com/store/p...oducts_id/2148

Interestingly, assuming their claimed dyno #s have been replicated by owners, it comes in at exactly $100 per hp (which seems insane to my formerly american muscle car driving self)... which is pretty close to what the LMS kit managed... and is why I'll be pretty (pleasantly) shocked if they now suddenly come up with a 350 kit offering double the performance for the same price.

I think there is one video of an "LMS supercharged" IS 350 on youtube, but it did not look like it delivered enhanced acceleration from a roll vs a stock IS 350.

Of course maybe I was just expecting too much, going by "looks" is a silly way to actually determine performance gains, but what do you all think about this -

it wasn't running properly...compression surge. Isuxel can probably chime in on how good his SC is...I wish I had the money for it lol

The LMS kit delivered about 40 rwhp for about $6000.

You can likely cobble your own SC kit together cheaper if you can just get the mounting/fittment stuff someplace (or know someone who can make it cheap) but it's still unlikely to do a whole lot better than $100 per hp. (which again seems kinda insanely high, and makes this option no better than just getting a faster IS for the 350 guys and WAY worse than getting a faster IS for the 250 guys)

The problem is the inability to run more than 5-6 lbs of boost safely on a ~12:1 compression engine.

Even TOMs in Japan, with access to reprogramming the ECU, doesn't exceed 6 lbs of boost (5.8 IIRC versus the 5 lbs of the LMS kit, and TOMs requires 100 octane to manage that and costs $10,000)

You can get a BIT higher if you add some kind of additional injection system (alky/meth/water) but that ups cost and complexity for again, pretty modest added gains.

Hence, to bring this on topic, that's why everyone is wondering what Artisan can possibly be doing to get 100 hp gains for that same 6k on the same engine. Turbos are slightly more efficient than superchargers (at higher cost and complexity) but like 10-20% more, not 200-250% more.
