Trans oil cooler pip leak! Help!
Hi guys,
Got a bit of a problem with an oil leak on my 1998 GS300, basically when the car is running, I am getting a constant drip from the pictured pipe (just in front of oil sump) on my car, however it stops when the car is switched off... on further investigation this pipe appears to go to the transmission oil cooler. Has anyone seen this type of leak before? Do you think it is caused by the worn out rubber hose? Would it be safe to replace myself and would I lose a lot of trans fluid when it is removed?
Thanks for your help guys.

You don't need any fancy part number for that. Just bring both the old hoses to your local auto parts store and tell them you want one with the same diameter. Have both hoses there so they know how long to cut it. Make sure to tell them that you're need the hose that is rated for automatic transmission fluid. Regular rubber hoses will dissolve when in contact with ATF for prolonged periods. Then pick up four hose clamps that are approx the same size as the spring clamps and then you're good to go as far as parts. Everything together should cost about $10. If you were to buy all of those things from the dealer, you would be looking at around $30-40!
I'd suggest you do a trans flush while you're down there anyway. It's very quick and easy to do.
