Looking for a new set of tires for new wheels that I have yet to choose I would want a staggered setup. Anyone know of any real good tires that provide excellent traction AND comfort? I feel the Toyo T1R's might be overkill for my car and they are also close to $300/ea!

I'm a big fan of the Nitto Invo. I have a set on my 350Z and they hold up very nicely, I'm planning on getting a set for my GS this summer.
Since you're up in NYC I would also recommend the Toyo Versado touring tire. All season, great grip and NNNOOOOO noise!! I have a set on my GS now that usually use Nov-April.

Before people could recomend a tire for you, they would first need to know what the car is going to be used for most of the time and if you're concerned about tire wear and camber issues or not. With that said, I've always trust three kind of tires. Yokohama AVS Sport, Bridgestone Potenza RE01R, or the Falken RT615. All of those tires are good for agressive street driving and weekend track use.

Yoko AD07, AD08 (expensive but super sticky.)
Falken RT615 (grease up when driving to hard and will cause you to lose traction)
Nitto NT01 (R compound. can be shaved into a slick with 2 vertical lines.)
Nitto Nt05 (good street/track tire for the money. Cheaper than AD08)

I have to totally disagree with you on the falken RT-615. They are a step better than the old Kumho MX tires that most auto-x guys run. True, they do heat up but will not cause you to loose traction if driven properly. It's more likely that your brakes are fading or your alignment that's causing the car to push. I'm currently on my third set of these tires and can't find anything that's better than these tires currently besides R-compound.
