I think we need a better idea of what kind of real gains we'll get. In numbers. Based off of everyones previous experience with lightweight flywheels, what kind of improvement are we looking at?

here's a good read of how a lightweight flywheel works:
http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/flywhee...heel_works.htm

and as for numbers, we really won't know till they make it, and they won't make it till we get enough people, but what a lightweight flywheel does is improve throttle response, and to some extent will make the car a lil quicker through making the car rev easier. it's like lessening drivetrain loss.

Yes and no. The jar of marbles is the springs in the OEM flywheel rattling. When you ditch the damping system the springs provide, you'll rattle all the synchros in the gearbox. This is how you can easily tell a Supra with an aftermarket flywheel - it rattles at stock idle. So you may be trading one noise for another.

The big HOWEVER is the driveability change you feel will be phenomenal. I put a lightweight flywheel in my Supra and it really transformed it for street driving. I put a Fidanza in my Scion tC and it also made a phenomenal difference (it cured what seemed to be throttle lag just by going from 16 lbs to 10 lbs).

The noise might be irritating at a stoplight, but once in motion, you'll never hear any noises, and the feel of the car will be VASTLY improved. In all likelihood your OEM flywheel weighs around 35 lbs. You'll be able to replace it with something in the 11 to 15 lb range pretty easily. If I had a manual, I'd be all over this. It's the one thing you can do to make the car feel infinitely better with no real downside except the increased noise at idle.

^^^ +1
my thoughts exactly. i had an RPS 13 lb. flywheel in my old MKIII and it made a huge difference too. the chatter at idle shouldn't too noticeable unless you have the windows down, but a lot of us have or will get an aftermarket exhaust that will most likely drown out any chatter anyway.
