IS 350 Exhaust Options?
I am thinking about purchasing an exhaust for my 2008 IS 350. I am torn between a few different setups. The main purpose for this exhaust is to add a nice sound since the 350 already puts out 300HP and, from what I have read, most exhausts are only adding ~10 or so HP.
With that being said, I want the exhaust to be louder than stock, but not so loud that my Lexus starts to sounds like a Mustang. I have heard that the F Sport exhaust is very loud and the Tanabe is louder than stock, but not as loud as the F Sport. Is this accurate?
Right now when I go WOT, I hear more engine than exhaust and I would like to hear more exhaust. Thanks for any input.

its ok homerjay, mikez does that to everyone =). I suggest looking for the Lexus HKS exhaust. Its discontinued, but u might be able to find it used. It might be something u are looking for.

Its not.. must be you Once you go over 4k RPM the axle back becomes basically quiet until you hit the rpm limiter which will make an obviously noise. I've heard the megan drift spec exhaust (louder than HKS), Tanabe both from inside the car at WOT. And I've heard the HKS WOT from outside. It will only get loud if you have the megan midpipes or remove your cats.
Axle back gives you really bad noise if a full RPM range tune is what you are looking for (the OP asked). The only exhaust that have full rpm range sounds is JoeZ which is a full cat back. Or you can get an intake.

I`ve got the Tanabe M/T and the noise level isn`t bad at all, small amount of droaning at low rpms. If I had to do it all over again, I`d look into the Joe Z. true duel system, all reports are its truly amazing in all aspects and produces the most H.P. gain, probably because it`s a true duel system, Tanabe, HKS,Greddy are only axel back.

I bought a Tanabe (used, for around $400, because it's an axle-back, a used one works exactly as well as a new one).
I bought it because I wanted a little power gain with as little noise as possible, and this was, easily, the best bang/buck left to do on the car... it's still pitiful at 7 hp for $400 ($57/hp) but still better than any other option.
I enjoy the car being quiet and the last thing I wanted was a loud exhaust. It's barely noticeable unless you get on the gas, and then has a nice little growl if you do... plus the tips look better than the stock ones.
That said, the Joe Z has excellent build quality, a beautiful sound if you want additional exhaust noise, and it'll gain you about 10 horsepower instead of 7... but that's $160/hp.

With so many good exhaust threads on this site, I find it hard to see the need for this one
