hapaboy takes on PTS – Joe Z RACE series for IS250
DYNO ON PAGE 2
hi guys. so about a month ago i picked up the PTS Full True Dual Exhaust – Joe Z RACE series for IS250. i've had a lot of fun with it and wanted to share some of my notes on it with the guys who have 250's. having this exhaust is like finding out your favorite sushi spot just got 50% cheaper. exciting!
so these pipes are immaculate, they are dripping with shine and the flanges are nice and thick. good for when you're scraping high bumps! the welds are precise for a non-robotic job. the bends feel nice as of course metal gets stronger as you bend it. the tips are about the size and type as the F-sport, and come with a dremel finish on the interior flange. i feel this is easier to clean and hopefully it will not pit in the future as standard chroming does.
in terms of performance, well if anyone wants to put me on the dyno, that will settle the issue. during the first week, you think you have a quicker throttle response, but, unfortunately it's only a perception. i didn't buy it for power, so for those that will, they can have their own opinion.
but the real reason why i picked these up was for some increase in audible presence of the car. it's a silky smooth sound that's not raspy. although i sometimes like a little rasp. its soft enough to let passengers sleep on the way to and from vegas. actually, the higher the RPM the quieter it is. it is at it's loudest under slight load, in the bottom of gears 4 and 5 @ 1700-1900 RPM. be sure to get your interior rattles fixed by the dealer, or else you will not be able to hear them after installing the exhaust. however it does not set off any car alarms while running through a parking lot. it is nice. not sure how else to describe so just ask me a specific question if you have one.
gas mileage is up a bit although i've been revving a bit. it is quiet at idle, but explosive on cold early morning start-up, who needs coffee!!!
i'll be bringing the car to meets again soon. and people can hear the exhuast in person (in soCal)
i have some pics, and a short vid clip coming soon.

The race exhaust isn't that loud!? NIICE Did Tommy install it for you?
This is definitely making me consider getting the street exhaust because I want something more Lexus HKS, wish they had it around still, and around Tanabe sound, but even quieter. I think the JoeZ PTS is what I'm going to go with... When's next meet you're going to so I can listen in? haha
