Default Tanabe+Mid-Pipe SOUND QUALITY

Hello former CL members. I come to you seeking advice and expertise. I used to own a IS250 in which I first got the disease called MODDING. I was going for the plain and simple look.

When it came time for a new axle-back, I researched with my mind set to "plain and simple". Best match was obvious with the Tanabe. On my IS250, it was perfect & just what I was looking for.

I later decided on a MOD ADDING 100HP!!! YES IS250 OWNERS, ITS POSSIBLE!!! I bought a IS350
I slapped the Tanabe on it, but it didnt sound right, so I bought the Invidia Midpipes from chris from SNS (great Vendor& Product). The Midpipes are good quality, BUT SOMETHING JUST DOESNT SOUND RIGHT

I'm thinking it was a bad idea to have any midpipe on the tanabe because it was designed not to be loud. So amplifying the sound with a midpipe on a exhaust that was not designed to be loud = not that great of a sound.

Does this make any sense to anyone else? I doubt the sound quality is at any fault of either the Midpipe or Axle back ALONE, but the combination. Any suggestions?

It should open the exhaust up, not make it sound less attractive.

this is true, it should sound a little louder than a modified midpipe (secondary cats removed) since the piping looks to be a tad bigger on all the aftermarket midpipes

just customize your midpipe and install 2 bottle type resonators

After reading another thread, I had a horrible idea. An idea I knew that would make my problem worse, but thought is worth a try. I deleted the resonator on my midpipes. It had its ups and downs.

Sound became MUCH deeper at low rpms. But as soon I step on it to go I hear a disgusting RASPY sound(only heard between 3k-4k rpms). Below 3k rpms and after 4k rpms sounds beautiful.

Resonator going back on in the morning.

still stuck in the same boat.

I thought you lose HP when you remove your resonators?
