I'm just wondering why everybody is saying that that the IS350 cannot have turbo.
I remember back in the day when they said the E46 couldn't have turbo. It took forever to build one. The forum below has the same argument back in 2002 as we do now for the IS350:

Now look what an E46 has:
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/View...Details=E46_M3
The IS350 has 11.8:1 compression and the BMW E46 has 11.5:1
It will come soon. I'm just waiting to see who has funds to build this sleeping monster.

I'm pretty sure you can make the turbo,,,but the question is,,is it worth the money???
there are reasons why companies don't waste their time and money on developing turbos for our cars...in the end,,it's just not worth it...![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
but I'm pretty sure more experts can chime in and explain to you in better terms

haha so far from my knowledge and im sure some one will correct me
1. no way to tune the ecu YET... hopefully soon
2. the numbers the current super chargers and turbos arent putting up the numbers that spending 8k would make that money worth it.
3. no pre built kit because of the reason stated above, no company has one anymore. there was a supercharger but was dico'd
hopefully some one else has more info.

The ECU has nothing to do with this problem. TOMs in Japan can mod the JDM ecu and they gain nearly 0 extra power from it.
The problem is a kit will cost 6000-10000 bucks and it'll only add 50-60 horsepower before you blow up the engine.
Versus spending about that much extra to add 108 hp with full warranty and a better transmission buying an IS-F.
The proposition is even dumber for a 250 where you can add 102 hp and full warranty for about $4000 by buying a 350 instead.

Also, the OP may want to note the pricing of the kits being advertised in the link. 13k+ for their entry level kit is rather steep. Nobody is saying it can't be done...its more a matter of how much you're willing to pay and for what results.

Does that 6-10k even include fuel system upgrades? Neglecting all other factors for a bit, I'm not confident the IS will post similar claimed numbers to the M3 (443rwhp on 91 pump), with the stock system...which then raises the cost to us even more if we want to play in that territory.

I guess the dollar got a lot weaker since I last looked, they're asking over 15k for it now.
It adds 52 hp to the car, on 5.8 lbs of boost, and requires 95 (US) octane gasoline and a japanese ECU.
I think it does this on stock fueling.
Supposedly the engine will hold together under up to 7 psi (based on some math from Lobuxracer), I imagine that extra 1+ psi will need a bit of extra fuel, but based on the results from this and the LMS kit you're still likely to top out around 65 hp gain... less than 2/3rds the gains just buying an IS-F in the first place would have given you.

There's no "bang for the buck" with that kit posted above. That's the real issue. I dont think anyone wants to spend 1/3 of what they paid for their car for 52 additional HP.
Also, like others have pointed out, the issue is deeper than compression alone.
