Yes it has been done, and yes it can be done more easily espcieally when your transfering parts from one vehicle that has a 5-speed to the same vehicle that doesn't. I know most Lexus are similar, but I would think it would be a little more work to make it work on a GS than from a similar SC, which is why I see most people opt for the Supra pedal set. One thing about us is that I think were more cautious to do the 5/6 speed swap as most of us are daily driven these, and it wouldn't really be worth it IMO to go through all the work just to power a 4000 lbs vehicle through a manual. Enough theory, here is what you need, I haven't done it, but have seen more then a few builds. Tranny, R154.. SC300/Supra NA or V160/1 from a Supra TT or you could use a W58 out of an IS3, the Getrag V-series are $$$$$$$, to me it's pointless to drop a 3,000+ on a tranny in a DD, another option is a T-56 from a Camaro/Cobra, however if you choose this route you will need a tranny mount, either way you will need a bellhousing to allow you to adapt the tranny to the V8. you need a special clutch to make your auto flexplate work as a flywheel. You need the manual pedal assembly from one of the above cars, I see more Supras than anything, however I know an SC will work. Last by not least you need the slave cylinder as most pedal assemblies come with the master cylinder. This last one I'm not a 100% sure, but I think most guys who do the swap end up doing a customer 1-piece drive shaft, but like I said, I'm not totally sure, everything else is straight forward. Good luck, and hopefully I cleared some stuff up for you.

This was the first thing I searched for when joining the site.. Here's a couple good threads. It's quite involved as the car was never offered as a stick, so there are no provisions in the body for the parts.

Tom, you can make gobs of power with the GM LS motor. I'm building a 700 whp motor for my truck right now...for way under what I paid to get 400 with my GS motor.

I'm no JDM expert, but this is news to me. As far as I know the GS, Toyota Aristo came with a 2JZ or 1/3UZ, all being automatics. Not aware of the 4 cylinder, are you referring to the 3SGTE? The Aristo 2JZGTE came with a 4 speed automatic, and the GS300/400 comes with the 5 speed automatic. The only Lexus to come in manuals are the SC/Soarer(R154) or IS/Alteeza(W58), both being 5 speeds. And the Supra was the only 6 speed (V160/1) available. And the LS motors come 400+ hp out of the box now, and that not even considering any bolt ons, you open an american performance magazine and tell me where the Toyota/Lexus section is, then tell me where the LS section is.

The 1/3MZ is a front wheel drive chassis, much like a "black sheep" of the group. This isn't off topic, were just letting you know what we know. OP tons of people have done this setup, maybe not in the GS platform, but it has been documented what you need. Only the above stated will work, the ES 5 speed will not.

nobody makes one. you're gonna have to fabricate it on your own.
