Single turbo 400
First time poster... Here's a build we have been working on.
Brief history: The owner of the lexus (which I'm pretty sure is a member of this board) originally had it supercharged. Wanting more power, he purchased a used turbo kit and brought it to us to install. After spending some time to sort the kit out and puzzling over some of the pieces, we convinced the customer to have us build one from scratch. From what started as a relatively straight forward turbo install turned out to be a long drawn out full on build. First I'd like to thank Kenny Lynch for his patience and I'm sure the wait will be worth the while.
Specs:
built bottom end consisting of pauter rods and ross pistons, blue printed and balanced.
custom ground camshaft
hogan intake manifold with 90mm accufab throttle body
comp turbo (triple bearing)
tial 60mm wastegate and 44mm blowoff valve (to the atmosphere)
550cc injectors (we'll see how the transmission holds before we throw some larger injectors in)
two factory transmissions with upgraded internals
aem ems
misc:
bosch iac
ceramic coated exhaust (all vband)
aem boost controller
twin walbro in tank fuel pump (two -6 coming out of the tank joined to a -8 before the fuel rails, and a -6 return)
aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
powder coated wrinkle black ic pipes
aem gauges
greddy turbo timer
stoptech big brake kit
without further ado

is the ems up and running? I've heard of a couple GS4's with ems that Mitch P (formerly of AEM) got up and running, Im wondering if this is one of them.
Is the radiator relocated? is that a custom radiator? Where does one find a hogan intake manifold? What size turbo is that triple bearing? Looks like a lot work went into this setup. Very nice

We're not sure! lol. Boost should creep in at about 3k, full boost at 4-4.5k, and wind out at 6.5k. This is all experimental, so we'll have to see.
Good questions. I see that you have been looking into turboing your gs. We've worked with Mitch in the past, but this is not one of his cars. The radiator is a custom dual pass and has been relocated. In fact, the condensor was moved forward as well. Most people will never realize how much work went into making this happen. We started the build with a garrett gt4294, but switched over to a comp turbo. Justin (owner of comp turbo) has been extremely accomodating and receptive to our requests. The turbos perform well on our other cars. The turbo is capable of putting out 1k hp. But we're simply after 500-550 whp pump for the streets.

Well before I even saw the build, anyone named Justin gets +1 in my book. That being said, your GS is awesome! I would love to see some build pics of the motor if you would happen to have any lying around. I love that intake, that thing is sweet as hell! Any idea on what you've put into this build as it sits now? This thing is a monster.

hey everyone - this is actually my car...justin and meraz have been handling the build (it's actually in souther california - not washington)
the history of my gs started off simple with just the pi torque converter and srt intake...then i picked up one of the rmm superchargers sometime back in 2004...eventually got up to 400rwhp but only 320 ft/lbs of torque...best 1/4 mile time was 13.3 @ 104
i then sold the supercharger to someone on the board (ivan - don't remember his screen name) and bought one of srt's first twin turbo kits (think it was the 2nd one that mo ever built)...meraz and justin did my engine rebuild and then when it came time to put the twin turbo kit on, we didn't like the way it fit so i sold the twin turbo kit to someone on this board (who subsequently sold it to someone else...i wonder if that kit will ever be installed on a gs) and the guys began on building a single turbo kit
so i can't wait to see the final result - anyone here who has done a gs build knows that it takes a while...please refer all technical questions to justin...i don't know as much about the technical aspects of what's under the hood but i write a mean check
