Default No more S&S Headers

If you have a set of S&S Headers count yourself lucky as they are no longer in business.

Found this letter from co-owner Betty McCalla on MicroRacing.com

"Dear S&S Headers, Inc., Customers and Vendors:

Anybody want to buy a header company? This is one of the most difficult letters I have ever had to write. Due to the ongoing poor economic conditions and continued shortfall of revenue, it looks like we are becoming yet another casualty of this recession/depression. Our building owners worked with us as long as they could but unfortunately have now chosen to pull the plug. They have exercised their right to change the locks and demand all past due rent in full, which we are unable to provide at the present time. Therefore, it is with great disappointment and regret that we announce that our business is currently closed.

We are trying to legally regain control of our physical property so that we may satisfy work-in-process orders and return property that belongs to our customers. I will keep you informed of our progress.

Thank you so very much for your continued support and the many years we have worked together. It has been a 41-year journey for S&S, and we deeply appreciate all of our customers and vendors and wish you continued success.

Sincerely,

Betty McCalla

S&S Headers, Inc."

This is awful.

My whole time on CL I never stopped hearing about S&S and just recently I realized they were local to me, located in AZ.

Sad to see them go but I hope the V8 guys get more options for headers.

This is just sad , I remember S&S from when I was a child.

Does anyone know who makes the long tube headers I have seen?

Now that their gone it's kinda late to talk about it, but I believe the problem with the cracking is not just to reweld the area that cracked. In doing so you have not fixed the cause of the problem, just applied a band-aid, which is why the crack can return again.

I bought the 1st gen headers, but I ordered mine without ceramic coating so that I could do port matching, add an O2 bung, plus I had certain "other" areas welded.

I have never had my headers crack although I know of 2 locals that ordered when I did, that did see repetitve cracking. Since I never had a chance to look directly at their crack, it was difficult for me to susbstantiate why my headers did not see a problem.

FWIW if I can find pics of my welding work I'll post them to show what I did.
